Beer and BBQ on Another Level

Beer and barbeque, what’s not to love? On Saturday, June 22nd Hudson will launch its first annual BEER-B-Q event in Tequila Park, curated by barbeque legend Josh Ozersky. Josh and four highly-esteemed pit masters will be serving up delicious BBQ samples paired with local Brooklyn drafts. Live music will be performed by Howard Fishman, which will surely round out a memorable afternoon.

Josh Ozersky is the executive producer and host of Ozersky.TV.  He also writes the “Taste of America” column for Time Magazine and is the author of The Hamburger: A History (2008) and Meet Me In Manhattan: A Carnivore’s Guide to New York City (2003). A winner of the James Beard Award for food writing, he was formerly the editor of New York Magazine‘s food blog, Grub Street, and the National Restaurant Editor of Citysearch. His writes a cooking column for Rachael Ray.com, and his videos about food and restaurants can also be seen every day on Ozersky.TV. His next book, Colonel Sanders and The American Dream, will be published next year. He lives in New York City.

Jesse Perez:

Jesse Perez is the chef-owner of Arcade Restaurant in San Antonio, Texas. A master of southwestern flavors, he comes to BEER-B-Q on the heels of a triumphant dinner at the James Beard House. Chef Perez was named “Top Latin Chef in the U.S. 2009” as given by the Flavors of Passion Awards in Dallas, an esteemed award within the Hispanic culinary community to recognize the best Latin American chefs across the country. He is currently working with Josh Ozersky as the culinary director of Meatopia Texas, as well as cooking whole animals for the event.

Matt Fisher:

Matt Fisher is the pitmaster of Fletcher’s BBQ in Brooklyn, recently named as one of the top barbecues in the Northeast by Citysearch. Previously, Matt served as the pitmaster for RUB BBQ, whose Kansas City-inspired ribs were called “Best in New York” by New York Magazine. He is also the winner of multiple barbecue championships and is certified by the Kansas City Barbecue Association as a master judge.

 

Ed Wilson:

Ed Wilson is the owner of Wilson’s Barbeque in Fairfield, Connecticut, and one of the most respected men in barbecue. A member of the Board of Directors of the National Barbecue Association and the winner of many championships in national barbecue competitions.

 

German Villatoro:

German Villatoro started his professional career with Clyde’s in Washington, DC while attending L’ Academie de Cuisine. Not long after, he found himself in Dallas working for Rosewood Hotels’ famed Mansion under Chef Dean Fearing. German’s next move was to New York City, where he helped open Jean-Louis Dumonet and soon after moved to La Grenouille as Sous Chef.  German continued to take his talents to new regions of the world, picking up positions in both Austin and the Islands, where he fell in love and met his now fiance. It was this love that brought him back to New York City and to Hudson where he has been instrumental to launching Tequila Park, Hudson Lodge and Hudson Common.
