Not your Mama’s Museum: MoMA NYC’s PS1

Truly this extension of the MoMA heralded the up and coming status of Long Island City. Fear not dear reader, Queens may seem terribly far away, but only 1 stop from Manhattan on the E or 7 train drops you on the footsteps of this incredibly modern, decidedly hip younger sister of the Museum of Modern Art. Formerly a public school, the building offers a tremendous amount of space for artists to present cutting edge multimedia modern art.

The bigger draw, would be the Warm Up party series, which happens every Saturday starting June 8th through September 9th from 4 to 9pm in the outdoor courtyard and beer garden. Every year, PS1 hosts The annual Young Architects Program for students to re-imagine the outdoor courtyard. The music changes up every hour or so, so if you find it too… experimental for your tastes, just head inside, your $18 ticket includes entry to the museum.



Feeling peckish? On top of a wide variety of microbrews served up, you can also nosh on oysters, ceviche, and all forms of hipster goodness changing year over year. Head inside for even more options including a full bar, wine, sparkling wine and of course, air conditioning.

So go on you sexy librarian you. Whether on the dance floor, the gallery, or at the bar, we’re sure your brain will thank you.
