NYC Wine & Food Festival Done Right

Today marks the start of the New York City Wine & Food Festival and we are excited to announce that Hudson is this year’s Hotel Headquarter. The plethora of events held in the city is overwhelming for even the most enthusiastic of foodies, but have no fear, we asked our New York chefs for tips on navigating the wave of delicious food and drinks this weekend.

Friday

What: Thrillist’s Barbecue & The Blues
Where: Good Units, Hudson

What better combination than sweet barbecue flavors and cool blues tunes? We are excited to host this sold out event with world renowned chef and Food Network all star, Robert Irvine.

BBQ Tip: According to Royalton’s Executive Chef, Gabriel Cruz, “Civil Wars have been started in the South over the “BBQ sauce” debate. For me it comes down to the basics, a nice balance of vinegar and spice, a long and slow cooking process and the finest ketchup you can find in the market”

What: Blue Moon Burger Bash

Hudson’s Culinary team will bring the flavors of Hudson Common to the party, serving up Uncommon Bacon Cheeseburgers and Szechuan Poutine. Tickets still available.

Saturday:

What: Tacos & Tequila
Where: Pier 92

Food Network legend Bobby Flay has invited more than two dozen of his culinary friends to showcase their favorite taco recipes, including Hudson’s Culinary team who will be serving up a Moroccan Veal Cheek Barbacoa Taco with a Jicama Chayote Slaw. Hosted at Pier 92 with the beautiful Manhattan skyline as a backdrop, the festivals “culinary campus” will be filled with unique taco creations and delicious Olmeca Altos margaritas. Taco Tip: “If possible, make your own tortillas from fresh masa, the quality is exponentially better!” says Hudson’s Executive Chef, Geoff Rudaw.

Royalton’s Executive Chef, Gabriel Cruz will put his skills to the test in this show down, serving up his Kimchi Shrimp Rolls for the win. Tickets still available.

Sunday:

What: La Sagra Sunday Slices
Where: Pier 92

Combining all of the best pizza in New York City for a walk-around tasting is no longer a figment of the imagination, this Sunday a smorgasbord of grilled, baked and wood-fired pizzas will be served along with other Italian food, wine, spirits and entertainment. Isola Trattoria & Crudo Bar’s Executive Chef Victor LaPlaca will be serving up his signature Tuna Watermelon and Hamachi crudo, you wont want to miss it! Tickets still available.
