August in London is where you should be spending the hottest (hopefully) time of the year dancing, drinking and dining alfresco. It's also the perfect time to see the sights of London and celebrate the return of many favourite music and food festivals. So whether carnival celebrations are for you or an evening under the stars watching your favourite movie is more your thing, London has something for everyone. Here's to summer in our favourite city.
Fesitval of Love, Southbank Centre - All of August

Notthing Hill Carnival, Notting Hill
A vital date in any party-lovers diary, and Europe's biggest street festival - Notting Hill Carnival is back, and brighter than before! A celebration of the capitals Caribbean communities, culture and tradition is one carnival that you don't want to miss out on. Expect live music ranging from dub to reggae and salas, to steel bands and so many food stalls that you'll be spoilt for choice. We're aiming straight for the jerk chicken.
Film4 Summer Screen, Somerset House - 10th - 23rd August
The most famous of open air film events that takes place in London, Summer Screen brings the best of cinema to one of the most spectacular settings.
